What do I earn from advertising on my website?

In this article I would like to show how many visitors my website has and how much money I earn through advertising. For now, I will concentrate only on the advertising network "The Moneytizer".

Which website are we talking about?

I show my income with my rather new website medieval-dynasty.fans. This site is only a few months old, but it is already very well visited and that's why I decided a few days ago to display advertising there.

At what point are advertisements worthwhile?

I am often asked how many hits a website must have in order to earn money. Some advertising networks also require a minimum number of hits for the site to be accepted into the network at all. However, it is very difficult to provide a general answer here, but I am happy to show the figures for my website, so perhaps this will make things a little clearer.

I recently broke down the website's visitor statistics in detail in a separate article, so I'll keep it short here:

In the last 30 days, I had an average of 2300 page views per day, which makes a total of just under 70,000 views per month. I think 2000 hits (not visitors!) is a value that stands for a still rather small, but quite solid website, which should be achievable with a little work.

The Revive AdServer

I recently started using the Revive AdServer. I had to introduce it because it allows me to comfortably display different ad networks on one ad position, which was necessary when The Moneytizer was hardly filling the ad spaces, probably due to Corona. It also allows me to easily fix the TCF string error in Google AdSense.

In addition, I have my own evaluation of how often which advertisements were displayed and do not have to rely solely on the information provided by the advertising networks.

What have I earned from advertising now?

Let's get to the numbers.

When submitting a new website to The Moneytizer, it must first be manually checked there. This only happens on working days. Once the site has passed the check, the Ads.txt must be deposited and the Consent Banner must be integrated.

Then you should also start to insert the first advertisement on the website as soon as possible. Most of the advertisers in The Moneytizer network only include the site in their inventory when advertising blocks are actually broadcast there. This is also the reason why the revenues increase in the first few days, as more and more advertising partners are added.

My advertising revenue in the first few days. Most recently it was 70 cents per day

You can also follow this increase well in the dashboard, as you can see in the screenshot. I currently earn 70 cents per day with Medieval-Dynasty.fans. I reached this value with only one active format and with only 50% of the connected advertising partners. To be honest, this is more than I had hoped for at this early stage, so I invested some more time and defined more ad units. In the meantime, the connected advertising partners are also increasing, so I assume that the daily income will settle at around 2 euros per day, which would correspond to 60 euros per month. For such a small and young site, I find that surprisingly high. I could also optimise it further or add Google AdSense (only a matter of 5 minutes thanks to Revive Server), but I'm satisfied with it for now and am concentrating on making the website even more attractive for visitors, then more money will come all by itself.

How did I position the advertising?

A word about the position and number of commercials. It is always difficult to find the best possible position and balance for advertising. On the one hand, you want to earn money, but you also don't want to annoy visitors with the advertising. That's why an advertising space in the footer is always standard for me, as it is least annoying there (but also brings less money). For other positions that could be perceived as annoying, I usually handle it in such a way that these advertisements are only visible for guests, but not for registered forum users.
